At Wellies Day Nursery, every child is at the heart of what we do — and June gives us a special reason to celebrate that commitment. As we step into Children’s Awareness Month, we’re joining a global effort to shine a spotlight on the well-being, education, development, and rights of children everywhere.
This month is more than a calendar event — it’s a reminder of how vital it is to create a nurturing, safe, and inspiring environment for children to thrive. At Wellies, we believe that every child deserves to be heard, to feel secure, and to be given every opportunity to grow into their own unique potential.
Prioritising Well-being
Emotional and mental well-being is just as important as physical health. Our staff are trained to support children’s emotional development through empathetic care, positive reinforcement, and the power of play. This month, we’re highlighting mindfulness activities, kindness stories, and gentle movement games to help children express and understand their feelings.
Encouraging Learning Through Play
We know that the early years are the foundation for lifelong learning. Throughout June, our themed activities will focus on sparking curiosity, building confidence, and celebrating every achievement — no matter how big or small. From sensory play to storytelling corners, every day is an opportunity to learn and grow.
Advocating for Children's Voices
One of the most powerful parts of Children’s Awareness Month is the focus on listening to and respecting children’s voices. At Wellies, we’re proud to foster an environment where children feel valued and involved — from choosing what songs we sing to deciding what’s for snack time. Empowering them to make choices builds independence and a strong sense of self-worth.
Working Together with Families
We know that a child’s development flourishes when nurseries and families work hand in hand. That’s why we’re inviting parents to get involved with special events this month — from our “Little Learners Showcase” to take-home family activity packs that promote bonding and play.
